Care and support

Our main concern is to provide the best possible care for our residents in terms of nursing, medical, and human aspects.

What medical care and type of nursing can you find at the Rivabella Residence?

Our medical and nursing team is always present in the facility and available 24 hours a day. This allows us to ensure direct and continuous access to health services at any time of day, providing greater security for residents and their families. Care is planned individually and purposefully from the first day of arrival at the facility, in order to maintain the lifestyle habits that residents had at home as much as possible and to preserve their psycho-physical resources. We ensure scheduled medical examinations several times a week and constant dialogue with relatives, and we guarantee tailor-made therapeutic pathways and Primary Nursing Care projects with preventive-curative-rehabilitative therapies. The in-house laboratory and good cooperation with local clinics allow us to react promptly to any situation. In the event of health changes, the staff can compensate for what the resident can no longer do independently, while always respecting their dignity and will. Should their condition deteriorate, treatment will be carried out in the room, or if the doctor deems it necessary (in consultation with the guest, their family members, and the nursing staff), clarification or admission to a cantonal hospital is possible.

«Caring means combining professional competence and humanity: every action and every attention is aimed at ensuring dignity, safety, and well-being for the people entrusted to us.»

Daniela Minazzi, Head of Nursing

Physiotherapy and rehabilitation

With our own team of physiotherapists specializing in orthopedic, neurological, lymphatic, and cardio-respiratory rehabilitation, we guarantee our guests continuity in care and individual therapies to preserve their psycho-physical resources.

What physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatments for the elderly do we offer at the Rivabella Residence?

The functional rehabilitation of elderly people requires constant and gradual adaptation efforts; it must therefore be carried out by physiotherapists who are experts in working with people in this sensitive age group and who are able to work synergistically with the entire medical and nursing staff. Always up to date, we offer innovative therapies (ultrasound, TECAR, etc.) and, in the spirit of prevention and well-being, organize activities to maintain harmony between body and mind. Our physiotherapy team actively contributes to maintaining the health of our guests by carrying out rehabilitation programs tailored to individual needs and pathologies, whether they are neurological (stroke, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's), orthopedic (fractures, prostheses, spinal pathologies, tendonitis, bursitis, arthritis, arthrosis), lymphatic (lymphedema, edema) or cardio-respiratory. Thanks to the picturesque location of the lake, one can choose whether to carry out physical activities outdoors or in the well-equipped sports hall with a laboratory.

Occupational therapy, art therapy, animal-assisted therapy

What rehabilitation paths we offer with occupational therapy at the Rivabella nursing home

At Rivabella, occupational therapy practice is client-centered, meaning therapists use activities that are familiar and meaningful to the guest as a means of rehabilitation, addressing their individual needs and desires. With empathy, creativity, and experience in selecting the most appropriate programs to achieve the set goals, our staff takes care of identifying and removing obstacles in the environment and provides specific aids aimed at increasing autonomy, independence, and participation in daily and social activities. By training physical skills through playful and motor activities, we simultaneously stimulate cognitive and sensory perceptions, thus promoting health and well-being in a comprehensive and complex perspective. The team also includes an art therapist who enhances the relationship with each resident. In the art therapy courses, there is the opportunity to engage with various materials and techniques, e.g., watercolors, tempera, clay, recycled materials, collages, colored pencils, oil pastels, etc. We also offer pet therapy, a therapeutic practice that promotes human-animal interaction to improve a person's physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being. A specially trained dog accompanied by a certified dog handler helps to reduce stress and anxiety while improving mood and quality of life.

Animation, entertainment, and socio-therapeutic activities

Rivabella is a quiet place, but at the same time rich in opportunities for social exchange. Through leisure and entertainment activities, we offer moments of culture and recreation of various kinds, always taking into account the cultural and recreational needs of our residents. To promote social relationships and the self-determination of our residents, we provide an animation team consisting of professional educators and entertainers who strive daily to create a welcoming, cheerful, and stimulating environment through a variety of activities. We regularly host concerts, shows, and art exhibitions. Furthermore, we offer excursions about every two weeks, which can range from simple market visits to museum or theater visits. With the consent of the residents, we organize birthday parties, buffets by the lake, and festive occasions for milestone birthdays. Those who wish can also regularly attend church services. Our leisure activities cover various areas - cognitive, motor, playful, and spiritual - and are organized in groups according to the guests' abilities. Three educators are also trained in doll therapy, a non-pharmacological therapy for residents with severe dementia. In addition, we use Snoezelen, a therapeutic method in which controlled sensory stimuli are used to promote relaxation and well-being.
